Equinor sets ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2050
November 9, 2020

Equinor’s new President and CEO, Anders Opedal, has announced its ambition to become a net zero company by 2050 – including emissions from both production and final consumption. The OGCI member company will update its strategy in the coming months.
At the beginning of 2020, Equinor announced its plans to achieve carbon neutral global operations by 2030 and to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions in Norway to near zero by 2050. At the same time, Equinor outlined a value-driven strategy for significant growth within renewables, as well as a new net carbon intensity ambition. Continuing to deliver on the short and mid-term ambitions will be key to achieving net-zero emissions.
