2025 ambitions met, delivering toward 2030
OGCI members met their collective 2025 upstream carbon intensity ambition and maintained methane intensity well below 0.20% for a fifth consecutive year. The 2026 Progress Report looks at the action behind that progress, and the focus through 2030.
Progress has been supported by practical action across methane, flaring, energy efficiency, electrification and proven technologies. The full report explores the approaches and member company examples behind the results.
Having met its 2025 emissions intensity ambitions, OGCI is focused on continued performance through 2030. Members are collectively aiming for 0.1% upstream methane intensity by 2030, alongside continued improvements in methane performance, measurement and upstream carbon intensity.
Bjørn Otto Sverdrup, OGCI Executive Committee Chair, reflects on what the latest results tell us about reducing operational emissions in practice and why sustained action matters as OGCI looks towards 2030.
