Carbon capture, utilization and storage

Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is a crucial enabler for the energy transition. It helps industrial companies – and entire regions – decarbonize, while maintaining and creating jobs.

OGCI is working with industry, governments and other investors to scale up CCUS, in particular through the development of CCUS hubs.

CCUS Global Hub Search tool update

A major update of our interactive, global database of CCUS hubs and projects, designed to support collaboration, investment planning and knowledge-sharing across the CCUS value chain.

The hub search tool matches clusters of CO2 sources from a range of emitting industries with possible storage locations and defines possible and optimal hub areas based on indicative estimates of cost per tonne, helping to highlight locations where shared capture, transport and storage infrastructure could be most viable.

The tool is designed as a starting point for political decision-makers, industrial emitters, carbon transport and storage providers, and potential hub developers who want an overview of potentially viable CCUS hubs in their country, region or sector.

Our CCUS tools

See our other new and updated tools on the CCUS Hub to enable carbon management at scale.

CO2 Storage Licence Tracker – An interactive tool providing a global overview of CO2 storage licensing activity, offering greater transparency into project progress and regulatory readiness across regions.
CO2 Storage Resource Catalogue – An independent, global assessment of CO2 storage resources, supporting confidence in CCUS investment and development across 1,272 sites worldwide.

Mafic Rock Map – A new report and tool evaluating opportunities to expand CO2 storage beyond traditional sedimentary basins and into rocks such as basalts and peridotites.
