Accessibility Features:
OGCI has implemented several key accessibility features to this Site to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA standards. These features include:

  1. Keyboard Accessibility: The Site can be navigated using a keyboard alone, allowing users who rely on keyboard input or alternative assistive technologies to access all content and functionality.
  2. Clear Structure and Navigation: The Site employs a logical and consistent structure, with clearly labeled headings, subheadings, and navigation menus. This aids users with screen readers and other assistive technologies in understanding and navigating the content easily.
  3. Alternative Text for Images: All images on the Site are accompanied by descriptive alternative text (alt text), enabling users who are visually impaired or use screen readers to understand the context and purpose of the images.
  4. Colour Contrast: The Site maintains sufficient colour contrast between foreground and background elements to ensure readability for users with visual impairments or colour blindness.
  5. Text Resizing: Users have the ability to resize text on the Site without loss of functionality or readability, allowing those with low vision or visual impairments to customize their browsing experience.

A key element of our accessibility initiative is our engagement with a third-party accessibility consulting organization UserWay to help bring the Site into conformance. We use industry standard accessibility methods and tools to accomplish this, in accordance with the relevant version of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as set forth by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) the internet’s main international standards-setting organization.

The Site makes available the UserWay Website Accessibility Widget that is powered by a dedicated accessibility server.

The Widget offers user-triggered enhancements that allow visitors to improve the accessibility of the Site. These features will, when selected, increase font size, pause animations, change color contrast, and more. People can choose combinations that suit their needs, as per WCAG Level AAA.

The Site has enabled Automated Remediation Technology (ART) for all visitors, whether they use assistive technology or not. ART does not detect Assistive Technology usage; rather, it improves accessibility for all site visitors regardless of ability by deploying remediation capabilities such as (not a complete list):

– Images and other non-text elements have alternative text associated with them when required

– Keyboard navigation is improved with aids such as focus indication and skip links

This Site has successfully met the WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards, demonstrating a commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible online environment. By implementing various accessibility features, the Site ensures that individuals with disabilities can access and engage with its content effectively.
