Over the past decade, we have translated the CEOs’ vision into action – transforming OGCI into a leader in the global effort to achieve net zero. Since 2017, we have halved our methane emissions, cut routine flaring by 45% and reduced carbon intensity by 21%.
Our members have spent $65 billion in low-carbon technologies, such as renewables, biofuels and carbon capture. And we’ve set a benchmark for the rest of the industry to strive for.
OGCI’s members are reducing their own emissions, helping other industries reduce theirs and investing in the energy system of the future. See some of our stats below.
As OGCI marks 10 years of collective action, we’re proud of what we’ve done to help the industry decarbonize.
We’ve shown what’s possible, and we’re sharing what we’ve learned with companies outside our group to accelerate emissions reductions.
Decarbonizing the energy system is a complex task that requires collaboration. OGCI works with many partners to deliver its own initiatives and support efforts by others.
The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative is a CEO-led organization bringing together 12 of the largest oil and gas companies worldwide to lead the industry’s response to climate change.
