OGMP technical guidance documents

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a voluntary partnership of over 190 governments, intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations founded in 2012, and convened within UNEP.

Technical Guidance Documents (TGDs) on each of the nine core emission sources covered by OGMP. The guidance documents present suggested methodologies for quantifying methane emissions from each source and describe established mitigation options that could be referenced when determining if the source is “mitigated. The resources include technical guidance documents addressing various aspects of methane emissions in the oil and gas sector. Technical guidance documents cover best practices at natural gas-driven pneumatic controllers and pumps, fugitive component and equipment leaks, centrifugal compressors with “wet” (oil) seals, and reciprocating compressors’ rod seal and packing vents. Additional guidance is provided for glycol dehydrators, unstabilized hydrocarbon liquid storage tanks, well venting for liquids unloading, and well venting or flaring during the completion of hydraulically fractured gas wells. Casinghead gas venting is also addressed. Furthermore, Appendix A offers insights into conducting emissions surveys and using detection and quantification equipment.
