The Signatories and Supporters of Aiming for Zero believe that virtually all methane emissions from the industry can and should be avoided.
Why Aiming for Zero is needed
Methane is responsible for around 30% of global warming. Reducing methane emissions from oil and gas operations represents one of the best short-term opportunities to advance the goals of the Paris Agreement.
This initiative supplements important multi-stakeholder initiatives, such as the Methane Guiding Principles, the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 and the Global Methane Alliance.
Initiated by OGCI, the aim is to have as many oil and gas companies participate as possible. Collectively, the industry can make a big difference.
