This report summarizes results from the large, multi-scale methane emissions measurement campaign of the Appalachian Methane Initiative (AMI) for 2024. The AMI coalition in 2024 consisted of eight upstream and midstream oil and gas operators, which include Ascent Resources, CNX Resources, EQT Corporation, Equitrans Midstream Corporation (now part of EQT), Expand Energy Corporation, MPLX, and Seneca Resources – all with assets in the Appalachian basin. AMI was formed with the objective of developing a collective approach to methane emissions detection, quantification, and mitigation across the major gas-producing areas of the Appalachian basin. Such a collective approach would theoretically provide common baseline and logistical advantages by enabling joint mobilization of resources, development of credible analytical tools, and deployment of methane measurement technologies across the Appalachian basin.
