Colombia’s biggest oil producer Ecopetrol signs up to Aiming for Zero Methane Emissions Initiative

Colombia’s state-run energy company Ecopetrol today announced it has become a signatory to Aiming for Zero, an initiative launched by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) to encourage the oil and gas industry to cut methane emissions to near zero.

The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), Methane Guiding Principles (MGP), Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) today announced their intention to build a framework to share expertise to help companies reduce methane emissions and flaring in line with the Oil & Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC) ambitions.

UAE-headquartered oil and gas company Crescent Petroleum today announced it has become a signatory to the Aiming for Zero, an initiative launched by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) to encourage the oil and gas industry to cut methane emissions.  

Momentum builds for Aiming for Zero in Q3

OGCI partners with IOGP and Ipieca to help operators select methane mitigation technologies

The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI), together with industry associations Ipieca and IOGP have released a recommended practices guide to help operators select and deploy methane detection and quantification technologies.

The Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) has set out guidance for oil and gas companies seeking to cut methane emissions to near zero – a vital step to achieving Paris Agreement climate goals and a key focus for the 12-member group.

Natural gas company Dana Gas is the latest signatory to the Aiming for Zero Methane Emissions Initiative. The Middle East’s largest regional private sector natural gas company becomes the 20th producer to commit to achieving near-zero methane emissions from operated oil and gas assets by 2030.

Bureau Veritas pledges its support for Aiming for Zero Methane Emissions Initiative

Bureau Veritas joins over 80 companies, including major oil and gas producers, service companies and leading global consultancies, in pledging to achieve net zero methane emissions from oil and gas operations by 2030.
