OGCI commissioned E4tech and AVL to study the well-to-wheel emissions reduction potential of a broad variety of reformulated, blended and alternative transport fuels, covering all modes of transport, including passenger and commercial road transport, maritime and aviation.
Our aim was to identify promising opportunities and areas of action for OGCI to accelerate production and market uptake. The research indicated a wide range of potential emission reductions – more than 80% in a few areas. But it also identified substantial implementation challenges to reach higher reduction levels.
This short paper explores both the potential and the challenges of these different options and indicates how OGCI is planning to leverage this work to have an impact on emissions.
